Use this Cable Termination Kit to add a Cobalt connector to your own cable!  Available in 3-pin, 3-pin Power, 4-pin, 6-pin, 6-pin Hybrid, or 8-pin versions, with regular or large connector shells.

 

Requires the appropriate Cable Termination Tool (sold separately).

 

Note: we have improved the design of the “large” size of connector shells.  The length of the large connector shell is increased by 5 mm to improve the bond between the connector shell and the cable, and the external grooves have been replaced with ridges to improve grip.  The new version of the large connector shells will start shipping in approximately late April or early May 2022.

Description

Now you can add a Cobalt connector — up to 8 pins! — to your own cable.  Perfect for ROV tethers, battery cables,  thruster cables, etc.

 

The Cable Termination Kit is available in six different pin counts (3-pin, 3-pin Power, 4-pin, 6-pin, 6-pin Hybrid, and 8-pin) and two different connector shell sizes (regular and large).

 

Your cable must have a bondable jacket (preferably polyurethane) and have a diameter no larger than 6.0 mm for the regular size connector shell or 7.8 mm for the large size connector shell.

 

The termination procedure requires the appropriate Cable Termination Tool (sold separately).

 

The kit includes:

  • qty. 1    Connector Insert with pre-installed electrical sockets (3-pin, 3-pin Power, 4-pin, 6-pin, 6-pin Hybrid or 8-pin)
  • qty. 1    Locking Sleeve

Requires intermediate soldering skills as well as familiarity with potting techniques.  Does not include potting material (we recommend 3M DP-420).  Please read the Instructions in the DOWNLOADS tab for further detail.
